Tfm Rat Colony Opportunity
April 26, 2021

We are retiring our Tfm (testicular feminization mutation) rat colony (original stock from Kathy Olsen), and we wanted to give folks in the SBN community one more chance to request founders before this colony is shut down. We have sent these rats all over the world over the last 30 years, but we do not track these colonies, so these may well be the sole source of this mutation.

Of course, we would love to turn over the safeguarding of this mutation to another lab but know it is a big financial and time commitment. Founders will be available only for the next 4 months and requests should be submitted by the end of May so we can generate them before the colony is shut down. Please submit your requests to Cynthia Jordan at jordancy@msu.edu.

Tfm rats have been an invaluable tool in understanding the role of androgen receptors in the brain and behavior.

All the best,
