2023 SBN Lifetime Achievement Award

Gregory F. Ball (University of Maryland, College Park) is the 2023 SBN Lifetime Achievement Lehrman Award winner.

Gregory (Greg) Ball’s research explores the endocrine, social and environmental controls of reproductive behavior, primarily in birds. He has made significant contributions to the field of behavioral neuroendocrinology though his work on the “challenge hypothesis”, clarification of the role of androgens and estrogens in song learning, exploration of the seasonal control of song behavior, and conducting comparative studies of the neuroanatomy in birds.

Greg is an exceptional mentor and administrator and has supported SBN as a former President and as our acting representative to the Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences (FABBS).
Greg will receive his award and deliver the Lehrman Keynote address at our annual meeting in Tours, France.
